Cupertino-based technology giant Apple officially launched the iPhone 11 Pro on September 10, 2019. The device went on sale on September. A lower-end variant, iPhone 11, was also launched on the same day alongside iPhone 11 Pro. iPhone 11 series are thirteenth generation of the iPhone series.

The new iPhone 11 Pro is an absolute performance package and is one of the best flagship by Apple yet. The device has amazing processor and camera abilities which makes it the first device in iPhone series to get the “Pro” moniker. The detailed description is provided below:

Design

The all-new iPhone is build on a stainless steel frame. The device is fully protected with Corning Gorilla Glasses on back and front. The device has IP68 dust/water resistant certification. In other words, it can resist water up to 4m for 30 mins, which is very impressive and up to the latest standards.

In the front, there is a cutout in the display that houses 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera and speaker. In the back, there is a a new camera setup design which incorporates a flash and a triangular array of lenses in a rectangular bump.

The other aspects of the device making it special are its wide color options. The versatile colors include Gold, Space Grey, Silver and Midnight Green. The Midnight Green is a new color option and looks quite engrossing. The design is quite impressive.

Display

The display of the device is top notched. The iPhone 11 Pro sports an astounding Super Retina XDR display unit. Although it is an all‑screen OLED Multi‑Touch display. This 5.8‑inch screen has an impressive resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels with ratio of 19.5:9, working at 458 ppi. It has the contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and features Haptic Touch instead of 3D Touch.

The screen is a scratch-resistant HDR screen as well, coated with oleophobic layer to avoid fingerprints smudge on it. The device has an amazing brightness of 800 nits and 1200 nits max brightness on HDR. The refresh rate is, however, not that much compared to iPad Pro. Apart from this, the display is flawless and impressive.


Performance & Memory

Chipset – The device runs on Apple’s powerful A13 Bionic chip. The processing of the new chipset is seamless in providing maximum output. The processor is based on 7nm technology. The Hexa-core configuration varies as (2 Lightning cores clocked @2.65 GHz+ 4 Thunder cores clocked @1.8 GHz).

The two Lightning cores are the main power delivering cores with max coupled efficacy of Lightning cores. Apple is using a 4-core GPU, the company claims this to be fastest up to 20% from the previous generation.

Memory – iPhone 11 Pro has pretty good options for memory. There are 3 variants available, namely – 64GB, 256GB and 512GB. On moving to RAM, the device has 4GB of RAM which is well optimized with software to deliver maximum speed.

Other aspects – iPhone 11 Pro is embedded with Third-generation Neural Engine. Apple claims this to be “The 8‑core, Apple‑designed Neural Engine is up to 20% faster and uses up to 15% less power. It’s a driving force behind the triple‑camera system, Face ID, AR apps and more”. The device, however, runs on iOS 13 which will be upgraded to the latest available version. The device supports amazing AR and AI experiences as well.


Camera

The camera is always a big highlight for iPhones. This device, too, carry the legacy and maintains the authenticity and essence of good quality cameras.

Rear – The device has a triple-camera system. There are 3 snappers, the first one is a 12MP (ƒ/1.8) wide-angle camera, the next one is a 12MP, (ƒ/2.0) telephoto lens, and finally, there is a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera with an aperture of ƒ/2.4. The telephoto lens has 2x optical zoom and a all total of 10X Digital Zooming ability. The wide-angle lens and telephoto lens, both have OIS support. The Ultra-Wide angle lens has a 120° field of vision.

Front – Moving to the front panel, there is only one TrueDepth camera of 12MP wide-angle lens with Portrait Mode. The aperture of this camera is ƒ/2.2. The camera has amazing portraits capabilities. The software optimization for this selfie taker is above par. The portraits are total up to the notch.

Videography – Videography can be considered as the biggest factor for this device. The device has an amazing videography abilites. The rear camera supports 4K video recording @24 fps, 30 fps and 60 fps, 1080p recording @30 fps and 60 fps, 720p recording @30 fps and Slow‑motion for 1080p @ 120 fps or 240 fps.

The front camera also provides the ultimate experience. It supports 4K video recording at 24 fps, 30 fps or 60 fps, 1080p @ 30 fps or 60 fps and amazing Slow-motion for 1080p at 120 fps. In all-terms, the device is amazing in its camera qualities.


Battery

iPhone 11 Pro is packed with a 3046 mAh battery. However, this could be a downside for the device and it has been discussed in ‘final impressions’ section. The iPhone 11 Pro offers up to 18 hours of video playback and 65 hours of audio playback, which is four hours longer than the iPhone XS, as Apple says.

The device supports up to 18W fast charging.The fast charger is available separately in market. iPhone 11 Pro also supports wireless charging i.e works with Apple’s Qi chargers and the device charges 50% in 30 mins with wired charger.

Software

The iPhone 11 Pro runs on iOS 13 operating system and comes load with with Siri, iTunes Store, FaceTime, Find My iPhone, Find My Friends, Face ID, and Apple Pay.

Price

The iPhone 11 Pro price starts at $999 for the 64GB variant, $1149 for 256GB variant, and $1349 for the top variant that has 512GB storage. For reference, the lower-end variant iPhone 11 starts at $699 and the iPhone 11 Pro Max starts at $1099.


Final Impression

The device is a true flagship. It is no doubt very premium, but with one small downside of battery. The device has a little less battery to power such a bright screen and power-intensive A13 chipset. However, this is not that big downgrade for such premium device.

The shades are versatile and vivid on the screen. The device is an absolute premium beast. It has top-notched camera and processor. The size is, however, is a little less than the iPhone 11. It perfectly fits in hand and is very user friendly. The device is rated 9 on 10 on a scale of 10 and is definitely an amazing package.
