Two people bitten by sharks on same day in Myrtle Beach

Karren Sites was swimming with her 8-year-old grandson when a shark bit her arm.

"I felt something bite me, and a shark was on my arm. I was knee-deep. Sites told WPDE, "I continued fighting to pull it off my arm."

Her 10-foot-away grandson Brian saw the shark attack her.

“I couldn't even see the shark coming up, but all I saw was the shark jump up and it didn't even bite all the way, like I saw the tail go to the side and then she screamed a little bit and as soon as she touched it, it went into the water,” said the 8-year-old.

Sites was hospitalised for surgery and sutures.

Coastal Carolina University professor Daniel Abel said the wound was "quite certainly a shark bite."

"My sympathy to the victim," he said.

Later Thursday, another individual was bitten by a shark nearby, according to WPDE. No immediate details were available.
