Taft shuts out Roger Bacon in football season opener

Thursday night at Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium, Taft High School left no question.

The Senators beat Roger Bacon 32-0 in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown's opener.

Taft coach Tyler Williams remarked, "I expect this."

"I want them to demolish every opponent, and as long as we win, I'm happy."

Showdown MVP Gavin Crawford scored four rushing touchdowns for Taft.

Junior defensive end Elias Rudolph had multiple sacks, and seniors Ronald Cutts, Lance Byndon, and Geneo Jackson all contributed.

Quinton Price, a junior defensive back, got two interceptions.

Williams: "Our defence was fantastic." "They scored zero. First half offence was slow, but second half much better.

We need to clean up penalties and turnovers, but I think we have a solid team this year.
